Administration Assistant – Full Time

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administration Assistant to join our team. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our office and supports key quality assurance processes. You’ll work closely with both admin and technical staff, reporting to the Office Manager and Quality Assurance Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general administrative tasks (data entry, document handling, filing)

  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to emails, and welcome visitors

  • Maintain accurate records in line with quality management systems

  • Order and manage office and laboratory supplies

  • Assist with internal audits and compliance documentation

  • Promote and uphold a safe and organised workplace

What You’ll Bring

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Previous admin experience is preferred but not essential

1st Year Fitter & Turner Apprentice – Full Time

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded individual who’s ready to begin a hands-on trade career in engineering, leading to a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade.

Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you’ll gain practical experience in the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and components that support our testing operations.

You’ll be part of a supportive environment that values safety, precision, and professional growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with fitting, turning, machining and assembly work
  • Operate lathes, mills, and other precision machinery under supervision
  • Read and follow engineering drawings and specifications
  • Learn to diagnose and repair mechanical systems
  • Support engineers and technicians with test setup and preparation
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace
  • Contribute to quality assurance and compliance processes
  • Promote and uphold safe work practices across the workplace

 About You

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Have a genuine interest in mechanics, tools, and hands-on work
  • Be eager to learn and committed to developing your trade skills
  • Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Possess sound English and mathematics skills with neat, accurate work habits
  • Have completed at least Year 11 (Year 12 preferred)
  • Be punctual, reliable, and take pride in your work
  • Be safety-conscious and attentive to detail
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Be comfortable working in an industrial and laboratory setting
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Australian driver’s licence

Training and Development

You’ll be employed full-time at MTS and receive on-the-job training while completing your studies through a registered training provider (e.g. TAFE).
Training typically involves one day per week of classes, leading to a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Turning)-MEM30219.
